3 Ways to Wear Denim to Work Without the Side Eye

3 Ways to Wear Denim to Work Without the Side Eye

Dressing for work (and for the day in general) is one of my favorite pastimes. I love taking the time to carefully select pieces that will both look great for the office and provide excellent content. However, it’s not always an easy task. Dresses, skirts, suits…pretty much any of the traditional corporate attire isn’t really my jam. Maybe it’s an unpopular opinion, but sometimes I just want to wear jeans to work in peace. Read on to learn the three ways I’ve discovered how to get away with wearing jeans to work, and to shop some of my favorite denim picks!

Tip 1: Wear a Blazer!

One of my influencer friends (hey Tiffany! Lol) recently called me the “blazer queen,” and it’s because I wear so many! You guys know I love a good blazer, but the versatility and functionality are part of what makes blazers such a great choice for work, the weekend and beyond. Blazers can give instant sophistication to any look and will make you look polished for any last-minute meetings you may have (we’ve all been there on casual Friday *eye roll*). If you’re unsure about blazers being your thing, you can always hit up the thrift store! Thrifting is sustainable, and a great way to try new looks on a budget (check out my other reasons for thrifting here).

Tip 2: Dress it Up with a Pretty Top!

One of my favorite combos is a pretty top with jeans. It provides a similar effect as the blazer, with the addition of sophistication to your look, without having to fully commit to wearing a blazer. Some days it’s way too hot for blazers, so wearing a white T-shirt with your jeans won’t always cut it. To avoid looking too casual (even on casual Friday), wearing a pretty button down or any colorful blouse will take your denim to the next level.

Tip 3: Great Shoes Make all the Difference!

I’ve found that regardless of how ratty the rest of a look may seem, a beautiful pair of shoes always makes me feel accomplished. A clean pump, mule or sandal effortlessly elevates a T-shirt and jeans look any day of the week. (As long as the T-shirt is worn with a blazer, of course.)

I hope this has been helpful in your quest for comfort in the workplace, lovelies! I’ve listed below some of my favorite denim brands, with options for you to choose from. Enjoy!
