So I may or may not be a bag lady. 🤷🏾♀️ I’ve always been into handbags, and the variety of styles to choose from. A cute handbag is the perfect cherry on top to any great outfit. This spring, I’ve been going absolutely crazy buying all these new (and new to me) pieces! I pay more attention to trends than I used to (because it’s my job, after all), and I’ve discovered that there are a few I’m super obsessed with right now. Read on to find out more about my favorite types of handbags this season, and to shop for yourself! While I have provided readily available options to get the look for less, you get bonus points from me if you thrift instead of buying brand new. 😉 Save the Earth (and those coins), lovelies!
Type 1: Top Handle Bags
If you’ve been keeping up with my Instagram feed lately, you’ll notice a theme: I carry a lot of top handle bags! (Sidebar, if you don’t follow me on IG @naturallykam, what are you waiting for? 🤔) I love top handles because they are super chic, and so versatile for multiple occasions. The great thing is that they are available at a variety of price points, from steals (My Ferragamo and Saks Fifth Avenue bags were both less than $10 at the thrift store!) to deals (My STAUD bag was less than $250 with a coupon, but regular priced it’s still under $300. Can’t beat it!). You can also hit on 2 trends at once and get a pearl top handle bag, like the one I have. So beautiful!
Type 2: Shoulder Bags
I’ve also been heavy into shoulder bags recently, because of their sophistication and practicality. Oftentimes, we as women (and people in general) carry so much stuff in our bags, it’s unreal. Nine times out of ten, I promise that you will only need the essentials: keys, phone, money/cards, and lip balm (I can’t go anywhere without my mini jar of Vaseline). These shoulder bags carry just enough, and are perfect for running errands, date night, everything! I purchased both my Fendi baguette and Dior saddle bags from TheRealReal, a luxury consignment site where you can buy preloved designer bags at a fraction of the price. This type of bag is also available at a variety of price points (including some vintage iterations at any thrift or consignment shop), so even if you don’t want to splurge, you can still get the look.
Type 3: Basket/Woven Bags
Basket bags have been a spring and summer vibe for a few seasons now, and I’ve started to really enjoy them for their ability to add a pop of freshness to any look. I was gifted this beautiful piece from Shop Everina earlier in the season, and I love how crisp and summery it looks with a pretty blouse and jeans. You can find basket/raffia bags everywhere, some for literal pennies, if you know where to shop. The thrift store is always a move, if you’re on a budget!
